Reharvesting the Urban Forest
The Reclaimer, LLC began when Gary Schwirblat was working as a contractor in LA and realized wood from demolished buildings in LA was going into landfills ground up for fertilizer, releasing large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. Plus, the wood was mostly 100 yr old Douglas Fir, superior quality to new growth wood.

Metal Detection in Reclaimed Timber
I came across this security device recently and to all intents and purposes, it is exactly the same as the metal detectors sold in woodworking shops for 2 – 3 times as much. This video is a brief look at the detector in use.
